Senior Accountant
FULL TIME, PERMANENT
Location: (100% on-site) – Milton
Hours: Mon-Fri – 8am-5pm - (40 hours/wk.) 1 day from home after training is completed.

Job Summary:
This individual will be responsible for accurate and timely planning, development, implementation and maintaining of the accounting controls and corresponding reporting systems required to properly record accounting transactions in a consistent manner for all locations. A high level of communication and interaction with personnel at the remote manufacturing and distribution facilities will be critical.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly gross margins
- Assist in month-end closing and inventory
- Work with IT departments for system issues, and use software and spreadsheets to help with cost decisions on production
- Maintenance and development of production, purchases, import and export, freight, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and shipping, documentation, and submission of inventory, and accuracy and validity of inventory
- Monitor costs of goods sold and provide feedback to meet goals.
- Financial control of all aspects of stock including provisioning and average costings
- Financial control of all fixed assets in the manufacturing department including tooling
- Financial budgeting, forecasting and planning for the operations department
- Summarize and get ready transactions report and financial status, involving a loss and profit statement, and other important reports in the organization
- Analyze financial data, e.g. records, and reports
- Help the Controller in getting ready reports and clarifying confusing financial data for executives and managers
- Coordinating accounting projects and initiatives with different individuals from the accounting and finance group
- Balance and maintain subsidiary accounts by allocating, posting, verifying, and reconcile accounts receivable and payable
- Prescribe and review modifications to accounting procedures and systems
- Take part in the forecast process and financial standard-setting
- Review and manage intercompany reconciliations
- Document and develop accounting business procedures to keep up and strengthen inward controls
- Play an important part in the organization’s financial management which involve all record reconciliations and reporting to essential parties
- Make mistake-free accounting reports and present their outcomes
- Complete outer review by examining and booking general record accounts and giving data to inspectors.
- Agreeing with all Federal, and provincial protocols involving lawful requirements and interpret existing legislation
- Identify mistakes and recommend approaches to improve spending and proficiency
- Supervise accountants
- Produce and examine asset, liability, and capital records by arranging electronic information and required documentation
Skills Required
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes and fixed assets
- Demonstrable track record of success in a fast-paced growing business
- Worked in an international environment is an asset
- Accuracy and skills in calculating figures, strong attention to detail; a right first-time attitude and approach.
- Ability to work without supervision in a busy environment, working to tight deadline
- Working knowledge of tax laws
- Strong and good communication abilities, both verbal and written
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially with Excel.
- Hands-on involvement in ERP systems
- Ability to work proactively with limited direction.
- Thorough knowledge of essential accounting strategies
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Experience Requirements
- 5 years to 10 years of experience in accounting with fixed asset accounting in a manufacturing / or Industrial environment
Education Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting
