Description

Advisor, Translation and French Language Communications
Full time Permanent

 

 

Location: Remote (can live anywhere in Canada) , Hybrid is you reside in the GTA

Hours: Mon-Fri – between work hours: EST:  8:30am- 5pm (35 hours/week)

Salary: Up to -48/hr.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Translate a variety of texts intended for consumers, participating firms, other stakeholders, and the public such as banking case summaries, news releases, web pages, marketing material, technical reports, annual reports, template letters, and precedent documents from English to French with minimal supervision and within the established timelines.
  • Coordinate all organization translation requests with external translators with minimal supervision and within the established timelines.
  • Establish a French terminology that is specific to the companies policies, processes and procedures and establish and maintain a terminology database.
  • Develop and maintain internal lexicons and leverage computer assisted translation tools to ensure efficiency and consistency of translation work.
  • Proofread the French version of documents to be published and/or posted on the website and social media sites as needed.
  • Liaise professionally with colleagues across the organization including Knowledge Management, Investigation teams and Communications to support translation needs.
  • Participate in overseeing the relationship with external translation vendors, including ensuring the quality and cost effectiveness of services provided.
  • Act as a corporate resource for questions related to translation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation from a recognized academic institution (from English to French).
  • Certification from a recognized translators’ association is an asset (OTTIAQ, ATIO, CTINB).
  • Complete fluency in French and English (written and oral).
  • Minimum five years’ translation and revision experience, preferably in the financial services sector or a related field.
  • Superior organizational skills along with attention to detail.
  • Intellectual curiosity and excellent judgment.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
