Electrical Automation Specialist
FULL TIME, PERMANENT
Location: ON-SITE - Milton, ON
Travel: Ability to travel to client sites in the US and throughout Quebec and Ontario (25-30%)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (40-hour work week) with flexible start time – no overtime
Salary: $35 - $45/hour

Responsibilities
Job Summary:
The Electrical Automation Specialist is responsible for integrating, installing, testing, and providing training and support (both remote and on-site) for various automated coding and printing systems. This role requires strong technical expertise in automation, PLC programming, and customer service skills to ensure successful project delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Install, set up, and troubleshoot automated grade marking, coding, and printing systems
- Contribute to the development of new system concepts or the optimization of existing equipment
- Participate in tests according to customer project specifications using hand tools, power tools, or precision instruments
- Read and interpret engineered drawings and equipment specifications
- Perform project quality control checkout procedures and troubleshoot identified issues
- Provide customer training upon completion of on-site commissioning
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical, mechanical, and application issues on industrial machine lines
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills in English
- Education: Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical Engineering Technologist, Trades certification, or College equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in automation within a manufacturing/industrial environment
- Good knowledge and experience in PLC Programming Logic (Allen Bradley)
- Knowledge of industrial networking to integrate systems into customer processes and communication protocols
- Experience with customer service in the field and over the phone
- Strong knowledge of electrical assembly, pneumatics, and PLCs
- Good understanding of technical parts, machines, and electrical schematics
- Exposure to basic scanning and vision systems
- Experience with inkjet coding and lumber grade marking systems is a significant asset
- Ability to travel to client sites in the US, Quebec, and Ontario (25-30%)
